Holly Humberstone - Ghost Me. An exclusive performance for Vevo. At long last… Holly Humberstone’s debut album ‘Paint My Bedroom Black’ is in the world. Although the UK thrush is earning new fans every day, the Vevo team feels like they’ve known her forever. Her first track, “Deep End,” caught our attention with its fearless lyricism and refreshingly gritty guitar sounds; and not even a global pandemic could keep us from capturing this burgeoning talent in her early phases. In the ensuing three years, Holly signed with renowned label Polydor, grabbed the Brit Award for Rising Star, dropped two extremely well-received EPs, and opened for fellow angsty pop rocker Olivia Rodrigo. ‘Paint My Bedroom Black’ isn’t as gloomy as the title suggests, although the hallmarks (Hollymarks?) of self-doubt, longing, and honesty about mental health persist. The production, assisted by longtime collaborator and best friend Rob Milton, is a little “more dancy,” she says. A little glitter has been added to the eyeliner. That’s not a metaphor, as you’ll see in the first few seconds of this “Ghost Me” performance. Just like the spooky bat on the cover of her drumhead, she’s spread her wings and is soaring - and no one loves to see it more than us.
