Somnus Aeterna Lyric Video

Sarah’s Thoughts: Back in the earlier part of this year we toyed with the idea of writing a collection of songs titled Lullabies, Love Songs, and Laments. This song was my way to combine all three. I wanted to write lyrics with more of a quirky and eclectic aesthetic exploring personifications of Lullabies, Love Songs and Laments. Hence we have Death, Love, and Hypnos. My version of Death is heavily based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s style. So feel free to imagine any scenery from Good Omens for the first verse. The second verse features Love and I was definitely thinking more of a succubus or a vampire. Because, why not?!?! And then my Hypnos in the third verse should evoke more of a Greek mythology feel. The bass solo is also so much fun for me to listen to. I have a feeling that when we get a chance to perform this song live I will be so zoned out listening to the beautiful solo that I may have trouble remembering when I need to come back in!
