Facetious Fashions By Our Tame Cartoonist Joe Noble (1933)

Joe Noble cartoon. Through animated drawings and text, Joe Noble takes us on a journey through the vagaries of fashion. Lots of silly jokes but nice drawings. 1933 - Joe gives his impressions of what the latest fashions will be - very wide so packages can fit in the pocket. His idea of what shoes will be like is rather similar to a basic flip flop with a wide band across the instep. The shoes will have interchangeable heels for different occasions (dancing and hiking are examples illustrated). Chrystal Brook who is described as being “the Television Dancing Star“ is seen wearing a man’s suit. She poses in a drawing room setting. (This seems to have nothing to do with what has gone before). Joe then explores Eve’s “undies“ through the ages. First the crinoline , then what is underneath the crinoline. Real woman then models the latest in underwear (yeuch!). Joe predicts what women will be wearing in 1950 - nothing. Note: as with many Joe Noble films, this doesn’t make a lot of sense!
