A 1941 wartime panto is performed to raise money for the Defence Workers’ Rest Fund. ARP wardens make up the cast including Cinderella and Prince Charming. A lively full-cast rendition of the patriotic British song “What We Did Before, We Can Always Do Again“ features with a dance routine, led first by the Baron.
Lyrics:
What we’ve done before, we can always do again,
We beat the Spanish Armada and Napolean,
We got the lads to do the trick as in the days of yore,
Like our father’s father’s father’s father’s did before.
We’re very hard to beat,
We never know defeat,
We know just what it take, and we’ve got the men,
It’s the roast beef of Old England -
What we’ve done before we can always do again.
Title reads: “ in London“.
Westminster ARP (Air Raid Precautions) Services perform own production of pantomime “Cinderella“. Money raised will go to Defence Workers’ Rest Fund.
Various shots of male and female ARP wardens, fire fighters and roof spotters entering theatre and getting changed in dressing
