RAMSES SON RECONSTRUCTION FROM EGYPTIAN MUMMY - PHARAOH ’MERNEPTAH’ MERENPTAH

Successor & 13th son of Ramses the second, Merenptah ’Merneptah’. His mother was Ramses second wife Isetnofret. He Rules for 10 years, aprox 1213 BC - 1203 BC. He became overseer of the army in year 55 of his father’s reign. He became king around 70 years old and died when he was 80. His son Seti II would succeed him. Causing much internal family conflicts. Merenptah fought many battles and won against the Libyans and Sea Peoples. He has a stele that mentions Israel, however the original stele was 1st commissioned by Amenhotep III as is evident on the back side. His eyebrows and eyeliner were painted on his mummy with black paint & his face was also painted white which is what helped preserve his face so well. Around his neck is an interesting necklace with small gold coins. His head shows evidence of wearing a tight crown. I based this reconstruction off of features of his father Ramses II and Grandfather Seti I. And his clothing and accessories off of his tomb wall paintings.
