Baatin - Titus (Unreleased LP) - Operation Unknown

One of the greatest hip hop albums never heard. ’Titus’ was an Operation Unknown release to follow J Dilla’s critically acclaimed album Jay Love Japan. Titus is raw. It harkens to Dilla Donuts with each song being short but working as one piece. The verses focus on everything from inner city struggles, relationships, and visions of his past life as heir to an ancient throne. Lyrics like “Now who will be the first of any race to step forward and stand for unity of all human kind?“ ring heavier today than ever. Baatin even introduces a new rap style on ’Howa’ (8:33) by rapping in Ancient Hebrew. In one line he speaks on his past life, and on the next line he is back in the car with a gun ready to ride in the cold city of Detroit.
