Trent Alexander-Arnold plays world chess champion Magnus Carlsen

Liverpool and England wonderkid, Trent Alexander-Arnold, stepped up to a #chess match against existing world champion, #Magnus Carlsen. Trent was dubbed the “Melwood Grandmaster” after he announced his love of chess, and was well up for a challenge against the Norwegian, who has reigned over the sport for the last eight years. The match was organised in Manchester by Kaspersky Lab, the official cybersecurity partner for World Chess and the FIDE, to promote the 2018 World Chess Championship. Kaspersky Lab called upon two of the UK’s most promising players and likely future Grandmasters, Kyan Bui (12) and Shreyas Royal (nine), to coach Trent ahead of the match. The company has also been helping Trent with innovative technology in his battle against the “unbeatable” Carlsen. By partnering with 4tiitoo to use NUIA eye-tracking technology, Trent could see Magnus’ future moves based on where he was looking – and respond accordingly. The match shows how advances in technology can help you to develop better strategies to protect against an attack, regardless of whether the attack is coming from across the chessboard or across cyberspace. Kaspersky Lab applies a very similar approach: combining human expertise, machine learning and many other technologies to stay a step ahead of the cybercriminals.
