Contractions in English

Contractions in English are shortened versions of two words created by replacing one or more letters with an apostrophe. Contractions are commonly used in spoken and written language to make speech more natural and fluid, and to save time and space. For example, the contraction “can’t“ is formed by combining the words “cannot“ or “can not,“ and the contraction “won’t“ is formed by combining “will not.“
