Tampere Tramway 🇫🇮 First Passengers + Tram Ride [Tampereen Ratikka]

First official passengers have finally travelled on Tampere trams! Tampere Tramway began its preliminary passenger traffic on 10 May, but on line 3 only, as service on line 1 won’t commence until 9 August. Originally, service was scheduled to begin on 1 April, but was postponed due to the pandemic. Pandemic was also the reason why passenger numbers were limited to max. 40 per departure during the first two weeks, so seats had to be reserved beforehand. Passengers could board the trams only at the termini, but they could get off at any stop. First two trams (TRO03 and TRO05) departed at 12ː00 from both ends of line 3 (southern terminus was not in use during the first fortnight though) and the rest of the departures continued with 15-minute intervals until 17ː15 (12ː17–16ː32 from the southern end). I decided to forego a chance to ride on one of the first two concurrent departures (I wanted to film from the outside) and booked a seat for the third overall departure, leaving from “Pyynikintori” terminus at 12ː15.
