SHANA’S METHOD

Documentary about the scientific laboratory in the village of Koltushi (Leningrad region), where the researching institute of Physiology named after A.I. Pavlova, art & science residency “Biostation”, Lutheran community, Theological Institute of the Church of Ingermanland are existing side by side. Partially this territory began to belong to the USSR, after the Soviet-Finnish war, but a small Finnish community still lives on it. This place appears as an environment where, at first glance, qualitatively different knowledge about the world interacts. The purpose of the film is to tell about this interaction, about the counter flows of interest and energy at those points where, it would seem, it should not have been.
