ABOUT Virtually everyone in the world consciously or unconsciously knows a song by Burt Bacharach. The now 81-year-old master composer wrote the majority of his classics with lyricist Hal David. Songs like Wishin’ and Hopin’, Walk on By, What the World Needs Now Is Love and I Say A Little Prayer are just a small sample from his enormous repertoire. In recent years, the Dutch singer Trijntje Oosterhuis has brought renewed attention to Bacharach’s songs. She did this with two successful albums recorded with the Metropole Orkest. The master himself also made a contribution: he plays the piano on se
