Ruud Brink & Friends ................................................... Ruud Brink (Haarlem, NL Aug 9, 1937 – ibid, June 29, 1990) was a Dutch jazz musician, tenor saxophone and clarinet. Biography Brink was one of the greatest, albeit not revolutionary, lyrical reed players. Throughout his life he was indebted to the Four Brothers style of Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Herbie Steward and Serge Chaloff. Trademarks were his relaxed swing and graceful tone. In his younger years, he played with The Diamonds, the Ted Powder Sextet and the Rob Pronk Boptet. Later, he was in high demand as a session musician. Among others, he recorded with Ben Webster, together with fellow Haarlemmer, friend and trumpet ace Ray Kaart. From 1963 to 1982, he was a member of the Skymasters. In this period, he worked with world stars like Zoot Sims, Thad Jones, Joe Pass, Ray Charles, to name but a few.
