Hover Rover (1962)

Swindon, Wiltshire. M/Ss of a Land Rover driving towards and away from us over swampy, jungle land (looks quite tropical, but probably UK). We then see two men filling the tank of the ’Hover Rover’ with petrol from a pipe. Several shots of the Hover Rover in action; it has four wheels as well as a ’flexible skirt’ / air cushion, which can take over when the ground gets too bumpy or swampy. The vehicle skims over a ploughed field, spraying fertiliser as it goes, and creating quite a dust cloud. M/S shows the Hover Rover speeding towards us over a very muddy, wet field. Commentator says conversion kits will soon be available which can be fitted to any vehicle; this one looks like a converted Land Rover. Note: on file is a press release about the vehicle from manufacturers Vickers-Armstrong Ltd, plus a b/w photo and small news cutting. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
