Maslenitsa Burned in Fire. Pancake Week in St Petersburg, Russia

Maslenitsa (also known as Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefare Week) is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha (Easter). In the end of Butter Week, the people burn in fire the Maslenitsa scarecrow which is symbolize the Winter. Burning the scarecrow is like burning off the Winter. Also, this Sunday is the Sunday of Forgiveness. Everybody have to ask to forgive each other for possible hurts they got during the year. In 2019, it is celebrated at the 10th of March.
