The story focuses on the romance between DU Liniang and LIU Mengmei It was written by TANG Xianzu, a Ming dynasty playwright, nicknamed “Shakespeare of the East”. The play can be compared to William SHAKESPEARE’s “Romeo and Juliet”, as both are immortalized masterpieces about the tragedy of love. Now, “The Peony Pavilion” is also available online!
