Limelight: Quicklime Light

The limelight is a kind of lighting used at the end of the 19th century in theaters and music halls. It is produced when heating with a high temperature torch a piece of quick lime. The light is emitted by a combination of the phenomenons of incandescence and candoluminescence. (1952_film)
