WALO by Doudou Ndiaye Rose - Watch in 4K Les Rosettes, Aly Ndiaye Rose, Ben Aylon Live in Parcelles Assainies, Dakar, Senegal, 2023 I’m truly honored to share the first video with Aly Ndiaye Rose, ’Les Rosettes’ and the drummers of the Ndiaye Rose family. In this tribute to Doudou Ndiaye Rose, we present one of his most melodic compositions, ’ Walo’. One of Doudou Ndiaye Rose’s remarkable achievements was forming the all-women drum group ’Les Rosettes’ comprising the ladies of the family. Aly Ndiaye Rose and I arranged a rooftop session in Dakar, Senegal, and brought together the family’s drummers and Les Rosettes to perform and record three compositions of Doudou. This video is the first of the three pieces we will release. The Senegalese drumming is intense, mysterious, dynamic, and profoundly impactful.
