Lennox Castle

Lennox Castle was not a real castle, it was in fact a hospital. The hospital buildings were constructed in the 1930s and it was closed down in 2002. The entire building is now a ruin. Lennox Castle hospital was built to care for people with mental health issues. The care and treatment many received was considered cruel and inhumane. The main building is a Grade A listed structure, although it has been allowed to fall into a ruinous condition. It is unlikely it can ever be restored.
