Cleopatra’s death

The death of Cleopatra VII, the last queen of Ptolemaic Egypt, is one of the most celebrated and enigmatic events in ancient history. Cleopatra died in August 30 BC, after the defeat of her forces and those of her lover Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium by the troops of Octavian (the future Roman Emperor Augustus). Her death marked the end of the Ptolemaic dynasty and the absorption of Egypt into the Roman Empire.
