Baby Rhett Lost His Mum

With only three months to go until flying-fox orphan season begins again in Australia, there is much we can do to help ensure that mothers and babies remain safe. Please never use any large aperture bird netting to protect your fruit crop and if you do net, never use netting that you can poke a finger through. Remove barbed wire fencing and replace it with wildlife friendly fencing. Remove Cocos Palms, keep pets inside at night and plant native flowering trees and shrubs. Call in any flying-fox on over head power lines through the day as it may have a live baby onboard. Master Rhett came into care as a very young orphan and he was successfully hand raised before being returned to the wild.
