Whirling Mandala™ Sacred Dance | Zia Nath | TEDxExeter

Zia has been in the study of ancient sacred dances since 1994. Her journey started with Gurdjieff movements, Sufi dances and whirling. In 2006 she embraced the study of Odissi Indian Classical Dances (temple dances of ancient India) and in 2008 originated her show Realms of Dance™ (formerly known as Sufi Splendour). Realms of Dance™ is a spectacular presentation of Sacred Dance & Whirling Mandala™, rendered to music and poetry of renowned artists and mystics. Inspired from ancient sculpted stories of the Temples of Orissa, and the wild abandon of spinning gypsies of India and Asia. These dances are tales of love suspended in the realms of sensuality and spirituality. Zia has been teaching and performing these sacred dances at prestigious festivals and events across the country and internationally, sharing the mystique of our sacred heritage. Zia is of Indian origin and lives and works in Mumbai. She is also a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist by profession since 2001.
