You can SUBSCRIBE to my video courses here: This video is a play-through of Leon F. Sylver’s bassline from ’And the Beat Goes On’, the 1979 hit for The Whispers. This song has an instantly recognisable bassline and is required study for any funk/disco bassist. I recorded this line using a Fender Custom Shop ’67 Precision bass strung with Rotosound strings. The tone control was rolled back about half-way. The bass was recorded via a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, all controls set flat. A small amount of compression was added digitally.
