Tasmanian Sea Monster (1962)

Title reads: “Spotting The News“ Tasmania, Australia Aerial shot over a remote beach on the Tasmanian West Coast, two men are seen below as they walk towards a hump in sand which is thought to be a buried “Tasmanian sea monster“. MS A man walks up to the hump which indicates the location of the monster buried beneath, reputed to be 20 feet long, 18 feet wide and weigh between 5 and 10 tons. Two shots of the two men digging around hump. MS A man starts chopping at the hump with an axe. CU One of the men. MS Man swinging the axe. CU The axe cutting into monster under the skin the flesh is spongy but you can’t cut it with a knife, the commentary tells us it smells of ammonia. The men manage to chop a piece of flesh loose to take back to the Laboratory for tests. MS The men walking away from the monster remains. Note: Date on original record: 20/03/1962.
