„Montana“ was the very first solo piece that I wrote and originally was part of a three piece Suite which I composed during my Master’s studies at Wuppertal. The other two movements, however, are not longer part of my concerts, so from now on it will be a separate composition.
While writing this piece, I tried to blend some techniques of the „Fingerstyle“-genre, like tapping and a good amount of percussion, with the typical sound of american guitar orientated music. I wrote „Montana“ in just about 20 minutes, something I have actually never managed since.
Among other influences, you can definitely hear some reminiscences of the great and outstanding jazz pianist Keith Jarrett.
