Varanasi: Journey through History and Time | Sapta Puri: Episode 1

Varanasi is a city with numerous names. Its ancient name was Kashi - the city of light, and is often known as Shiva’s city Rudravaas! Varanasi is also one of the oldest living cities in the world and a trip here can change your life. I’ve been to Varanasi many times, and this time I took my family along, especially my mother who’s always been keen to visit the place and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Of course, we did a lot during our four-day stay there - ate some amazing local food, spent a lot of time on the ghats, explored local stories, visited Sarnath and immersed ourselves in this city of light. I’ve gone into the details of the history of both Varanasi and Sarnath from an archaeological perspective to find an answer to the age-old question - how old is Varanasi? I hope you’ll find the answer here. If you enjoyed the music in this video, you can find this on my favourite platform Artlist.
