AETHYRIEN - Valkyrja

In Norse mythology, Valkyries are revered as the ’choosers of the slain.’ These divine warrior maidens, under the goddess Freyja’s command, ride majestically over battlefields to select the most heroic of fallen warriors. Their duty extends beyond mere selection; they guide these souls to two glorious destinations. Half are led to Valhalla, Odin’s hall, a place of honor and feasting in Asgard. The other half are chosen first by Freyja herself, to reside in Fólkvangr, her own majestic realm. Valkyries symbolize the bridge between the mortal and the divine, representing both the fate and valor of combat. Their role intricately weaves the fabric of Norse cosmology, balancing life and death, victory and valor. I tried to incorporate symbolism throughout this song, up until the last moments of the warriors life with his vision blurring and fading away as well as the sound of the valkyrie herself in the end. While valkyries today seem to take on a more christian-influenced heavenly vibe,
