Verminous Knight (Catalunya) — Malignant Descent — 2022 full length

The debut of this solo project of Sanguinous Moth, with participation of M.W. (Malfeasance, Armargor, Herald ov Wizborg, etc) managing the percusion, Roanoke (Till, Tome of Alsiare, Xirgan, etc) on the synths and Lord Valtgryftake (Gryftigæn, Pyreficativm, Winterstorm, Ründgard, etc) doing vocals on the third track. This is a rather unique sort of black metal, epic at times while not being too lo-fi, but it also has a quite aggressive stance with clear punk reminiscence and synth inserts, contrasting greatly since these are cotton-like and ethereal sections, if we try to forget the mighty gritty vocals and the profusely fidgety percussion. Each track has a quite different approach, but despite that they feel as if they belong together and not out of place. They are set in different tempos and moods, changing the weight of each instrument, evolving as we listen. That is why it is hard to pick any track as a favourite one, with such solid songwriting. The way I perceive, this sense of unity might be caused because these artists play on other projects together. The instruments are not only well played without overshadowing each other, and in a great symbiotic effort, making an amazing record.
