Cleveland’s unemployed camp. Unemployed Camp in Cleveland (county; Northern England). Jobless men & teenage boys stay at camp in country; learn skills; etc. Set up by religious group? Men walking past barracks-style buildings toward camera; some waving hats; etc. CU sign: Holiday Fellowship Young People’s Camp etc. The men standing up at long table w/ row of basins; washing hands & faces. CU boy kneels on ground w/ his head in a basin as an older guy washes the boy’s hair; scrubbing energetically. He pulls the dripping kid up; then pushes him back in; then pulls him out and starts drying all this looks more like a hazing ritual than a shampoo. Inspection in barracks by 2 old gentlemen. Calesthenics exercises in field. Boys have hay fight; flinging handfuls of hay. Men planting flowers. Some entertainment- -old cheerful guy doing jig in middle of circle of the campers outside building. CU a few of the guys playing harmonica as accompaniment; one is also waving arm like conductor.
