Abigail Martinez is the Mother of Yaeli a 19 year old female who took her life after three years of trying to transition to live as a transgender female to male. CPS took her from her home at 16 years old and put her in a foster home where she was given hormones. Yaeli was using the name Andrew Elijah Martinez and male pronouns at the time of death. But the Mothers story uses she pronouns and calls Yaeli her daughter. Abigail blames the LGBTQ school club and counselors for taking her child away. The challenges faced by families in these situations can be overwhelming, and the involvement of Child Protective Services (CPS) and foster care adds another layer of complexity.
