Shin Dong-hyuk was an outspoken critic of North Korea’s human rights record, drawing worldwide attention to the harsh realities of the North Korean regime with his 2012 book, “Escape from Camp 14“, and testifying before a United Nations Commission of Inquiry about his ordeal.
