Elegant Tramp (1957)

London. C/U of a pair of hobnailed boots - a “tramp“ is sleeping rough on a park bench on the Embankment. A man in uniform sweeps the road beside the bench. Man draws up in a car and speaks to the tramp whose name is Ted Wellings and comes from Worcester. He is whisked away to the Park Lane Hotel where the annual convention of the “International Union of Masculine Coiffure“ is taking place. The doorman of the hotel obviously is not happy about letting a tramp into the hotel. He salutes the car driver but not the tramp (acting I presume). Doorman shakes his head in disbelief Ted is to be given a “makeover“ to show that “grooming maketh man“. Hairdo, manicure, new set of clothes, moustache trim etc. Ted sits on a stage and a hairdresser begins cutting his hair. Ted welcomes the opportunity of getting back on his feet, he has had his fill of “adventure and romance as some call it on the road.“ Manicurist tends to Ted’s grubby and broken nails. Ted will start job hunting as soon as his transformat
