Australia Considered Sending Troops To Ukraine After MH17 - Report Former Australian PM Tony Abbott discussed the “genuinely crazy idea” of sending a “large military deployment” to Ukraine in the wake of the MH17 plane accident, his former special envoy to Kiev Angus Houston has said. Then-deputy PM Warren Truss told ABC that Abbott adopted a “war cabinet approach” in a bid to recover the remains of the 38 Australian citizens that were on board the plane before threatening to “shirtfront” Vladimir Putin to the ground at the G20 later in 2014.
