The ‘Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti’ has called for a nationwide Bharat Bandh on Wednesday, August 21, in protest against the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on reservations. On August 1, a seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud ruled by a 6:1 majority that states can further sub-classify Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to provide quotas for more backward groups within these categories.
