The filmed operation was a part of an air-to-air training exercise. During the 1960s and 1970’s, the US supplied Iran with hundreds of varying F-5 Freedom Fighter and Tiger II aircraft models. Following the Islamic Revolution, Iran developed its own industry to continue making replacement parts of its existing fleet of F-5 aircraft, as well as producing its own clone versions of the F-5 as well.
