Raja Harischandra (1913)

Raja Harischandra is a 1913 Indian silent Film produced and directed by Dhundiraj Govind Falke popularly known as Dadasaheb Falke. Adapted from the Indian saga the {-Mahabharata}, the film concerns the virtuous King Harishchandra who almost sacrifices his kingdom for his sense of duty and for his love of the truth. In spite of the director’s progressive-minded wishes, the film featured an all-male cast.
