Police prepare for Biden’s visit, and other activity on Good Friday Agreement’s 25th anniversary

Police in Northern Ireland are preparing for the visit of President Joe Biden to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. It’s also Easter Monday, the anniversary of the Easter Rising, which has meant there has been plenty of parades across Ulster. The Land Rovers have been busy today! While the war known as ’The Troubles’ ended in 1998 with the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, there are still struggles across Northern Ireland. All police are armed and frequently travel in armoured cars such as the Land Rovers you see here. There are hundreds of murals, peace walls, memorials, and also fortified police stations across Northern Ireland that remind us of the troubles - as well as rioting, and pockets of violence that still occur. May those affected find peace where they can.
