Alap in Vrindavani Sarang on Vichitra Veena by Dr Ragini Trivedi

Azavea, prominent software company based in Philadelphia, invites experts from various domains to interact with members of staff. For the month of May 2016 Misrabani exponent Dr Ragini Trivedi was invited to explain and demonstrate the music and technique on Vichitra Veena. Presenting Vrindavani Sarang -- a noon Raga -- she demonstrated the creation of Chhand through strokes. Through application of Misrabani technique an artiste is free to start from any Matra in TeenTal or create compositions in odd or complex Tal-s like 7-beat Rupak, 14-beat Jhoomra etc. Alap not only traces aesthetic combination of notes, but allows an artiste to explore rhythmic & metric patterns, too.
