Sunfish Racing: RBSA 2023 Series August 12, Race 2

Conditions were windier than we were anticipating, close to 20 mph, plus gusts, so there was a lot of hiking upwind, which favored the racers with more mass The RC was using my whistle instead of the horn. A fun event in this race was when I rounded the windward mark in 3rd Place: as I sheeted out for the run, the sheet was tangled around my foot, and I almost went over due to that. I had to bear off to allow me to remedy the situation, and the 4th place boat passed me. The downwind leg was tricky, with lots of potential for nosediving the bow. Not shown in this footage, a boat severely nosedived and pivoted without capsizing, and in Race 3 one capsized due to a nosedive. I mostly avoided nosedives by zig-zagging to avoid a direct downwind heading, which also helped me ride waves. After rounding the leeward mark, I was in 4th place, but was able to pass a lighter sailor for a 3rd Place finish.
