Baltic Tribes The Last Pagans of Europe The Battle of Saule The Battle of Saule was fought on 22 September 1236, between the Livonian Brothers of the Sword and pagan troops of Samogitians and Semigalians. Between 48 and 60 Christian knights were killed and 2700 Christian mercenaries from Livonia Estonia Latgalia Germany Denmark Rus and elsewhere including some knights from England and Sweden,1200 pagans were killed.
