In 2008, a 19-year-old student and sparring partner of Fedor Emelianenko, Kirill Sidelnikov, created one of the most memorable knockouts in the history of mixed martial arts at the M-1 Challenge 1 tournament in Holland. Two months later, the young heavyweight was to perform in Nizhny Novgorod, where an international mixed martial arts tournament called the Fedor Emelianenko Cup was held.
