Obby Oss: Crowds flock to Padstow May Day celebrations

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Padstow to see in May Day in style. The age-old festivities, which include the ’Obby ’Oss festival, bring excitement to the town each year on May 1. Stunning footage from the occasion show crowds gathering to line the streets. The ’Obby ’Oss festival is thought to have evolved from an ancient Celtic festival of Beltane and welcomes the coming of summer. It involves two wooden hobby horses, known as ’osses’, being paraded through the streets. They are accompanied by traditional music provided by the drums and accordion, as well as costumed dancers. The Osses are black framed costumes - one with a red ribbon and the other with a blue ribbon - and are worn by multiple people throughout the day. #cornwall #cornwalluk #padstow Subscribe: @cornwall_live?sub_confirmation=1 Cornwall Live Homepage: Cornwall Live Facebook: Cornwall Live IG: Cornwall Live Twitter: You can get all the latest news, sport, showbiz and comment at LIKE | COMMENT | SUBSCRIBE | SHARE
