Frog and Henry - The Girls Go Crazy (Bunk Johnson)

3rd take of a tune we learned from Bunk Johnson’s 1944 recording. Recorded live at Jamboree, Limehouse, London, England. Feb 26, 2018. Featuring the foot -operated tuba-machine of our own design, allowing one person to play guitar and tuba simultaneously and Matt Redman on cello banjo. The audio is from the Nagra iii, which can be seen rolling in the video, and will be used for the 2018 album. More takes available at *soon We’re posting these live recording videos partly to demonstrate what’s involved in recording with a single microphone: very particular physical set up around the mic; the horns needing to move around and point the bell toward or away from the mic for tone/volume/presence; some instruments (tenor banjo and archtop guitar) needing to be pretty far away from the mic and also pointed away so that at times they’re felt more than distinctly heard; etc. Also, since we were playing this song at this dynamic, it was nice to have a room with a high ceiling
