Cultural relativism; do all lifestyles and beliefs deserve equal respect?

It is an article of faith among progressive people today that the traditional way of life in Europe or the United States is no better than that of the Kalahari Bushmen or cannibals in Papua New Guinea. This is not the view of the man or woman in the street.
