In this exhilarating video, I was able to capture M15 delivering nesting materials to the nest. Fortunately, I was also able to record the first documented food gift from Dad to Maybelline. She perched and inspected the food gift for a few seconds before graciously accepting M15’s present. Here’s how it all happened: M15 and Maybelline were perched high up in the nest tree, keeping watch. Suddenly, a group of crows flew by, and M15 and Maybelline (M&M) took off after the crow that was carrying something in its beak. The crow dropped the food, and M15 caught it in mid-air. Soon after, Dad returned to the nest and presented the food to Maybelline, who had closely followed him back. She accepted the offering, covered it with her wings, and ate it. I slowed down the video to show the food delivery but I could not determine what it was. She consumed the meal in less than a minute.
