Why are peatlands burning in Indonesia? BBC News - YouTube

The haze caused by fires in Indonesia has been poisoning the air across much of South East Asia for weeks now. The fires are deliberately set to clear forests for palm oil plantations. Most of the fires are on peat land which burns for longer and produces more smoke than other fires. Indonesia has laws in place to protect peatland but they are rarely enforced.
