SYND 1 7 80 AFTERMATH OF VIETNAMESE INCURSION TO BORDER AREA BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA

(30 Jun 1980) The two mile incursion by about 500 Vietnamese troops into Thailand has left at least 100 soldiers dead and scores of refugees unsettled. The border area, the scene of 24 hours of fierce fighting, was visited by Thai Prime Minister General Prem Tinsulanonda, who inspected captured arms and sought to provide a moral boost to his troops.
