This instructional film from the 1970s called “How To Save A Choking Victim With Dr. Henry J. Heimlich” talks about the importance of and how to administer the Heimlich Maneuver. The film opens with a group of teens having a picnic when one suddenly begins to choke. The film then disseminates information on how to recognize signs of choking as well as what to do. Later, the film features Dr. Henry J. Heimlich instructing a room on how to properly and safely save a choking victim. Dr. Henry J. Heimlich was an American thoracic surgeon and medical researcher credited as the inventor of the Heimlich Maneuver in 1974. Distributed by Oxford Films, a subsidiary of Paramount, the film was written by Donald Ham and Henry J. Heimlich, M.D, directed by Donald Ham, and produced by Bob Boucher, A. Scott Miller, and Art Evans. The film also features cast members Kathleen Bracken, Fred Draper, Elaine Edwards, Lisa Eilbacher, Larry Ellis, Rod Gist, Suzanne Horton, Almiria Quinn, Craig Rogers, and Michael Rye who star in the opening scene.
