Morning Face 朝顔

Hello everybody! This is Bill here at the Tree House English Studio in Koganecho Yokohama Japan. Today is Sunday, September 4, 2022. The morning started off murky here in Koganecho but it’s turning into a glorious day. Not only is it sunny but another reason why today is glorious is because I have these wonderful flowers blooming in front of the studio. In Japanese, these flowers are known as “asagao“. In English, these flowers are known as “morning glory“. That’s why I’m saying it’s a glorious morning even though the air is thick with awful humidity. I’m surprised that more people in Japan don’t know the name of this flower in English. I also think that the direct translation of “asagao“ is quite humorous. The direct translation would be “morning face”. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I wake up in the morning, I have morning face and I don’t want to show anybody. That’s why I think the direct translation is quite humorous. I want to thank my student Miho-San for helpin
