This is our somewhat geriatric Little Eagle flying to the glove and taking a lure. ’Morgaine’ has been with Martin for 12 years. She has a slight flight impairment, a legacy of a fracture caused by a collision with an electricity line in 2003. Power-lines, cars and barbed wire fences account for the majority of causes of injury in raptors that present out our shelter. The Australian Little Eagle is now declining in numbers across parts of Australia. Human alterations of the environment and the use of Pindone poison to control rabbits have been suggested as the causal factors for this decline but it requires further study. See our website at
