Xu Shixi Chen Style Taiji First Form, complete Advanced version

Xu Shixi, age 70 in this video, demonstrates an complete Advanced version of the Chen Style Taiji First Form, 陈式太极拳一路. This form is done when the practitioner reaches the fifth level of Taiji training, the Flash Attack stage. He applies force in his moves, and varies his speed between slow, medium and fast according to the form’s needs in this demonstration. Xu Shixi(徐世熙), born in 1942, lives in Beijing and teaches Wushu in at the Temple of Heaven. He learnt Chen style Taijiquan from Chen Zhaokui (陈昭奎), son of Chen Fake, and Yin style Bagua from Zhang Qinglian, student of Li Baosen, student of Yin Fu, senior student of Dong Haichuan. Master Xu is a traditionalist whose views of Taiji and Bagua training are very different from most other teachers. He emphasizes basic training, internal power, and continuous drilling of basic moves instead of forms practice, and stresses the importance of practical self defence over beautiful, flowery movements.
